Okla. deputy killed in crash responding to emergency call

Deputy Jarid Taylor died when his vehicle left the road and hit a tree

DURANT, Okla. — A Bryan County deputy died while responding to an emergency call early Tuesday morning. 

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Captain Scott Hampton told KXII Deputy Jarid Taylor, 31, was responding to a 911 call just after 6 a.m. when his patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. 

Hampton told KXII the cause of the crash is currently unknown. 

Prior to serving as a deputy, Taylor served as a Bryan County corrections officer and a school resource officer, KOKH reports. He is survived by his fiancée and two children.
